Mariner Media has received the 2009 Addy Award for western Virginia in advertising for the arts and sciences. The award was presented at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, Roanoke, by the Advertising Federation of the Roanoke Valley. It recognizes the creative excellence of Mariner Media for the catalog / brochure Coal Camp, presenting the work of Lexington artist Lenny Lyons Bruno.

The Addys have a simple mission: To celebrate the best local work created over the past year, and the talented people who made it happen. This year the award is an engraved railroad spike, plated in silver, symbolizing both the unique history of the region and the bright future of our local advertising market.

The Addy Award is the largest annual creativity awards program in the United States. It is conducted by the American Advertising Federation and is open to all professionals, media companies, students and suppliers in advertising industry. There are two regional competitions held in Virginia, and winning entries move on to district and national competitions.
